Some mini games i have designed Posted on 12 Jun 2010 by Cathrine Hank's world of measurements Map game of Australia Name english-speaking countries Programming: Henning Stalheim and Eivind Venaas. | 0 Comments Status update and recent events Posted on 10 May 2009 by Cathrine I am now proud to say I have started working full time as a Graphic and Multimedia designer at an eLearning company in Oslo called Amendor. www.amendor.no I'm looking forward to diving into an area of design that I haven't really had much experience with. I'm just realizing some of the potential in this line of work, and as always enjoying myself while I'm learning and working. I recently attended the VISUELT competition prize award, where I earlier this year submitted my master project. I didn't win anything, but I was proud to see that the Gjovik University College (my school) was represented among the award winners; Nina Lysbakken won gold for her portfolio in the graphic design, student work category: http://visuelt.org/visuelt/vinnere/grafisk-design/studentarbeid/ I would like to congratulate all the winners! visuelt.org | 0 Comments Master Project Posted on 06 Nov 2008 by Cathrine on: Legibility and readability in magazine design; a review on current thoughts on legibility and readability in relation to magazine design and the experimental typography of the 1990s. I chased through the whole city to find a printer that actually wanted to do my printing job. It seems there are a lot of printing businesses that are most comfortable with pushing the same "print" button every day. Makes me more grateful for those printers who do care: "you are very much wanted and appreciated!" I added some better and more detailed photos of the 2009 calendar and the promotion box. Like I always do when I find a new item or an idea that I just can't get my mind of, until I have experimented and/or played around with it. This time it wasn't the biggest blow to my budget, but it can be in the long run. It becomes very addictive! I am talking about lomography and my new Holga Color Flash Camera. I have been carrying it around in my purse, ready for anything and anyone. There are a handful of film roles just waiting to be developed. I'll keep you updated on the result. Meanwhile here is some interesting links if you want to join the club. Posted on 29 Jul 2008 by Cathrine A new and final semester have started, and it is all about my master project: "Legibility in magazine design". For a while now I've been all caught up in David Carson's (amongst others) experimental typography and designs. Uncovering this for myself, I knew I had a interesting background for my project. After researching the main thoughts on legibility, I found that the most current ideas from the 1990s interested me most; Revolutionary magazines like Raygun and Emigre, and wonderful people like Carson and Zuzana Licko, Rick Poynor and many more were and are writing graphic design, typography and legibility history! My end product is a range of magazine layouts based upon a deeper understanding of and maybe even a standing point on the issue at hand. I was "brought up" with the "rules of legibility" and I am now looking forward to digging deep into its counterparts... Last semester, except for writing my 5000 words project proposal, my main project was the self-promotional package that also works as a gift.
